It functions as the practical hub of a village more used to passing traffic between Lismore and Byron than to a proper shopfront of its own, the post office queue doubling as the town's meeting point. Trading hours run long by village standards — store and cellar open from 6am most days, extending to 7.30pm on Thursdays, with the cellar opening later on Sundays at 10am. The café closes earlier, at 2pm daily. A worthwhile stop for anyone routing through the Northern Rivers hinterland rather than sticking to the highway.
